What is this Perfecto ?

Hi ! I've just acquired this perfecto 618. It is quite thin and shiny compared to my newest cowhide. Could you possibly tell me more about the jacket ? Is it Steerhide, horsehide ? It is ±25 years old I guess, quite good condition. Pics : Thanks in advance

Based on the pocket ticket the style is the 618 which is a steerhide jacket. The Perfecto label has a motorcycle rider which we started using in the mid- 1980's. The pocket ticket has no bar code which means the jacket was produced prior to 1992. This jacket was produced between the mid-1980's to 1991. Gail

Thank you very much Gail ! It seems also that the inside of the pockets are horsehide leather. Was it common at the time to mix leather hides ? BEst regards

If you mean the pocket linings are leather, then someone had  these pocket bags made and switched out from the cloth pocket linings we use in our jackets. At that time we used a flannel Kasha pocketing in a cream color. Gail

The lining is correct and original, I meant the inside border of the lighter pocket and the inside leather parts of the jacket are a different hide, likely horsehide !

Inside bottom bands and pocket trims would not be horsehide, but a cowhide. In the really old vintage jackets the bottom bands were actually a leather looking vinyl. To keep cost down hides tha tare a lesser grade are used in bottom bands, or small trims such as pocket trim will be cut from scrape of the original hide used in making the jacket. Gail
